ironman world championships

KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII - OCTOBER 10: 32 year-old Professional Triathlete Chrissie Wellington #101 of Great Britain crossed the finish line in a time of 8:54.02, smashing the Paula Newby-Fraser's 17 year-old record by nearly a minute, during the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on October 10, 2009. Wellington has become the first woman to ever win all three Ironman World Championships she has competed in, with a margin of victory of nearly 20 minutes in 2009. Considered one of the most grueling races in the world, competitors must brave 95 degrees temperature and 90 percent humidity to complete a 3.86 km swim, 180.2 km bike, and a 42.2 km marathon with in an 17 hour time cutoff to be called an "Ironman".
